I used to end every week by checking how many new followers I had gained. One weekend, I decided to compare that number with how many people had quietly unfollowed instead. The result surprised me. Even during my best-performing weeks, I was still losing followers, which made me realize that growth is only half of the story. Curious to understand why, I started reading about follower behavior and reviewing my own content with fresh eyes. I noticed that my most engaged posts shared a clear theme, while random experiments often led to small spikes in unfollows. Reading https://recently-followed.com/why-people-unfollow-on-instagram/ reinforced the idea that many people regularly reorganize their feeds, especially when their interests evolve or content no longer feels relevant. From that point on, I stopped trying to publish everything that came to mind and focused on delivering the type of content my audience originally followed for. My follower count became much steadier, but more importantly, conversations in the comments became more meaningful. It reminded me that lasting growth comes from consistency and trust, not just bigger numbers.
